Wanna be a roller girl?

So you think you want to be a Green Country Roller Girl?
Well, you're in the right place!

Are you thinking to yourself "Man, this sounds SO cool....but can I do it?"
The answer is YES! You can do anything you put your mind to, and we're here to help.

Here's how to get started-

There are several places in and around the Tulsa area that you can go to get your wheels back
under you and see how it feels to be rolling again. When the GCRG started in March of 2006 most of us hadn't skated in over ten years! It just takes time.

You can visit our home rink, Broken Arrow Roller Sports for any of their regular public sessions
throughout the week. They include Friday and Saturday night skates from 7pm-11pm that you can enjoy with your kids, if you have them.
Visit BARollersports. com to view a complete schedule.

Wednesday nights you'll see some of us out during adult skate (18 and over) at Skateland on 11th & Sheridan from 8pm-10pm.

Contact us here or on MYSPACE for more public skate times in the Tulsa area.

Ready to take the next step?-

We have a regular weekly practice every Sunday at Broken Arrow Roller Sports
that is an open day for new recruits looking to see what we're about.

We also have at least one other two hour practice each week at the same location. Those days change from week to week, but are planned out about three to four weeks in advance. You can view our calendar HERE for dates and times. Check back frequently- practices change from time to time.

Don't have skates? That's ok!

The rink has rental skates that they allow us to use. If you are interested in pursuing derby, it is highly recommended that you look into investing in some higher quality 'speed' style skates that are better suited to this type of aggressive roller sport. Skates like these are available in every shape, size, color, and price range at our home rink - Broken Arrow Roller Sports.
Their knowledgeable staff will be pleased to help find the right skate for you!

We now require that all roller derby participants and referees in training come with a full set of their own protective gear. The required safety gear is:
Helmet
Knee pads
Elbow pads
Wrist guards
Mouth guard

We recommend a good, sturdy quality of pads like the ones used for skateboarding.
The guys over at the Board Shop on 11th and Harvard can hook you up with a great deal
on a full set of Pro Tech pads!
You can find different sets of safety gear at local sporting stores, and they can be used by beginning derby girls.
They are generally not large or thick enough to provide proper protection for this aggressive sport, so an upgrade would eventually be needed.
Mouth guards can be found at Wal-Mart, or any sporting goods store for just a couple of dollars. "
